Part of the Brisbane Improv Festival workshop series!
Stuck in the Middle with Rik Brown
Stuck in the Middle is an energetic and entertaining format which involves one performer being ‘stuck’ on stage for the entirety of the performance, with no option but to go along with every offer, character, scene or genre that is being thrown at them.
It incorporates elements of Long and Short form, with some scenes being short, sharp, stand alone scenes, and others becoming ongoing storylines that recur throughout the performance. The scenes transition around the central performer with no explanation as to what the new scene is. The main cast’s job is to create a range of scenes to stretch, surprise, inspire and showcase the central performer. The central performer’s job is to Accept and make bold choices.
This workshop will focus on the skills that help this format fly: following your impulses, supporting your scene partner and the shape of the show, and will help you stretch your narrative and character skills.
Workshop length: 3 hours
Recommended experience level: Intermediate (1 - 3 years experience)
Participants need to know: Come ready to have fun!
