What are your shows like? What should I expect?
-
Improvised comedy is comedy made up on the spot and it's what we do and love most at Big Fork Theatre. Our hilarious team of improvisers will be creating funny scenes, characters and stories out of offers (inspiration) from the audience. Our shows have different formats or hooks, but none of them have scripts or prepared material. Every night is unique and some can get pretty wild - you are seeing the opening and closing night of a show that will never be seen again, lucky you! Big Fork Theatre has Brisbane's best improvisers and performers performing each week.
-
Stand up comedy is a core part of any comedy lineup - one person, a mic and finely honed jokes. Big Fork Theatre presents some of the best stand up comedians Brisbane has to offer, bringing both well loved material and new jokes to the stage in their own individual styles.Description text goes here

Sketch comedy, like Saturday Night Live or Full Frontal, is bite sized comedy scenes written ahead of time and combining big characters and absurd situations. Big Fork Theatre have been performing live sketch comedy since 2014 and we are home to Brisbane's best sketch comedians and dedicated sketch comedy nights.

Not at all, just sit back and relax.
In our improvised shows, the improvisers might ask the audience for a word to inspire them, then they will take it from there!
Some standup comedians might talk to people in the audience, and sketch comedy sometimes involves audiences doing things but that is always 100% optional.

We are wheelchair accessible for both audience members and performers! We have lift access no-stairs route to the theatre and we can accommodate wheelchair and mobility aide users in our seating arrangement. As we are a general admission venue we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before show time to ensure your party can be placed together, just ask our friendly staff or email ahead. An accessible bathroom is located on Level 2.

No. We recommend arriving with plenty of time to ensure your party can find seats together or if you have particular needs.

In an improvised show, we can't guarantee what topics or language will come up on the night. We'd call it MA15+, with potential for coarse language, sexual references, adult themes including drug references and comedic violence.
Stand-up and sketch shows are usually MA15+ due to similar adult themes and sexual references.
-
Minors (under 18s) can attend shows at Big Fork Theatre but must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.
