Brisbane Improv Festival -  a celebration of improvised comedy in Brisbane 22 - 29 July

Facilitated by Maddie Parker and Jim Fishwick (Improv Theatre Sydney - NSW)

This workshop will be teaching the format for the attached show. It will use the Dark Academia genre (The Secret History, Wednesday, etc) to explore the intersection of power, secrets, lies and tangled relationships in improvisation, with a sprinkling of magical realism as well.

Please note that any Festival shows cast from workshops is at the discretion of the show's director and is not guaranteed. Please go into workshops with a view to learning new improv skills and having fun. Any performance opportunity is a bonus.

About Maddie

Maddie began improvising when she was 14 years old, [redacted] years ago. Since then, she has been lucky to learn, perform and teach improvisation across Australia and around the world. She’s also an actor, writer, and producer. When she isn’t doing these things, she’s finishing her Masters of Sustainability. She would be very happy for you to talk to her about birdwatching.

About Jim

Jim is an award-winning theatremaker, writer and teacher. They are the general manager of Jetpack Theatre, creating experiential, interactive and immersive theatre, and the Artistic Co-Director of the New Zealand Improv Festival. They write for the BBC quiz show Only Connect and enjoy cryptic crosswords. They would be very happy for you to talk to Maddie about birdwatching.
