A Thought With Another Thought's Hat On with Jim Fishwick

Want your metaphors to be a piece of cake? Want your similes to be as easy as falling off a log?

This workshop explores simple ways to add layers of meaning to improv scenes, through metaphor, simile, and symbols: any time we use one thing to say something else.

It’s not about being clever! This is about adding emotional resonance, depth and beauty to everything from the humdrum to the ridiculous.

Workshop length: 3 hours
Recommended experience level: Intermediate (1 - 3 years experience)
Participants need to know: Come ready to have fun!

Meet Jim Fishwick (they/them)

Jim Fishwick is an award-winning theatremaker, writer and teacher. They are the general manager of Jetpack Theatre, creating experiential, interactive and immersive theatre, and the Artistic Co-Director of the New Zealand Improv Festival. Jim also writes for the BBC2 quiz show Only Connect and enjoys cryptic crosswords.
