Part of the Brisbane Improv Festival workshop series!
Where the Wild Things Are with Noelle Greenwood & Adam O'Sullivan
Step out of your human skin and embrace the non-human characters that live inside you.
In Where The Wild Things Are, participants will explore a world of brutish beasts, curious critters, fantastical faery folk, mythical monsters, savage spirits and wiry wildlings. As you discover how these creatures move through the world (physicality, voice, space), you’ll also dive deep into their inner world to explore how the emotional landscape of a monster and what drives them is different from the human experience.
Get ready to throw off the shackles of adulthood and play in the world of make-believe once again.
Workshop length: 3 hours
Recommended experience level: Beginner and up
Participants need to know: This workshop involves physicality exercises and participants should come prepared to move their body within their own limitations and with respect to themselves and others. Participants should anticipate some loud sudden monster noises throughout the workshop.
Participants in this workshop may be selected to perform in the show Where the Wild Things Are. Participation in the workshop does not guarantee being cast in the show, please advise the facilitators on the day if you do not wish to be considered for the cast.
Meet Noelle Greenwood (she/her) and Adam O'Sullivan (he/him)
Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia
Noelle Greenwood is an improviser and sketch performer from Meanjin (Brisbane). She loves to use performance and comedy to shine a light on the messier parts of the human condition. On stage, Noelle loves exploring the inner world of characters, especially opening up the tender side of a monster, beast or villain.
Adam O’Sullivan is a sketch and improv comedian from Meanjin (Brisbane). Adam shines in all sorts of roles, but none so much as when he gets to embody a fantastical creature. In 2023, Adam performed in the competition-winning trio H.O.G. (Human, Object, Goblin) at NZIF. We’ll let you guess which one he played.
